ISLAMABAD: Former attorney general Anwar Mansoor Khan has said that the court’s decision does not specify how long Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan will remain in hospital.

Speaking during ARY News programme, Mansoor said the duration of Imran Khan’s hospital stay would depend on his health condition and would ultimately be determined by doctors.

He said the medical board constituted to oversee Imran Khan’s treatment would decide matters related to his medical care and hospital stay.

“After his transfer to the hospital, it is difficult to say how long he will remain there,” Mansoor said.

Commenting on the Supreme Court’s decision regarding Imran Khan’s transfer to a private hospital, the former attorney general said he did not consider the ruling unusual or unexpected.

Referring to a precedent involving former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Mansoor said private doctors had also examined Sharif in jail when his platelet count had dropped.

He further said that if Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar referred to the jail manual, it also contained provisions regarding prisoners’ other rights, including their right to meet family members and lawyers.

Mansoor maintained that the final decision regarding Imran Khan’s health and treatment would be made in light of the medical board’s assessment and the doctors’ recommendations.

Imran Khan Not Seeking Any Deal, Says Barrister Gohar

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan has said that party founder Imran Khan is not seeking any deal and believes that his continued imprisonment is unjust.

Speaking to reporters at Parliament House, Gohar said the federal government’s review petition had not yet been assigned a number.

“I request that this order be implemented. It took a considerable amount of time to reach this order,” he said.

The PTI chairman also welcomed the authorities’ fulfilment of their commitment to facilitate a meeting between Imran Khan and his sister, Noreen Niazi.

Gohar said he had not spoken to Noreen following her meeting with the PTI founder. He added that her decision not to speak after the meeting showed that she had respected her words and maintained discretion regarding the interaction.

Reiterating his position on Imran Khan’s legal and political situation, Gohar said the PTI founder was not engaged in any deal and considered his continued detention unjust.
