PESHAWAR: Committees have been formed to investigate factories in merged tribal districts being exempted from taxes, and Grade 20 officers have been included in the audit process to fix responsibility in this regard.
It has been decided to investigate factories importing raw materials in the tax-exempt merged tribal areas and Malakand division on the issue of alleged tax evasion worth billions of rupees. The federal government has also formed a special committee in this regard, and large-scale arrests are expected after the investigation.
According to sources, a high-level investigation committee of the Federal Investigation Agency has been formed; an audit inquiry of all factories will be conducted through physical inspection.
Sources say that grade 20 officers have also been included in the committee; Director FIA Peshawar Ijaz Ahmed Khan and officers from the Kohat zone will also be part of the committee.
Grade 18 officers Afzal Khan and Faizan-ul-Haq are also included in the committee, while two deputy directors each from Peshawar and Kohat zones will also be included in the committee.
