PESHAWAR: The strike by goods transporters and Mini-Mazda operators continued for a second consecutive day on Monday, disrupting the supply of essential commodities across the region.
The strike has caused disruptions in the transportation of medicines, foodstuffs, LPG, flour, and other essential items. The movement of vehicles from transport terminals has also come to a standstill due to the strike.
Transporters have declared that they will remain in strike until their demands are accepted.
According to the transporters’ leaders, they had rejected daily changes in the prices of petrol and diesel. It was because constant changes in fuel prices were having an adverse effect on the transporters’ business and management of transportation.
They demanded serious negotiations with the government regarding their demands and warned that they could extend the scope of their protest movement in case their demands were not met.
Officials of the All Pakistan Goods Transporters said the strike would remain in place until the transporters’ demands were accepted.
