The Pakistani media utterly refuted the claims of CNN and said that before amplifying claims of a “7-month communications blackout”, CNN should answer one basic question: how does a prisoner supposedly cut off from everyone record 198 interviews involving 900 plus visitors?

Those visitors reportedly included family, lawyers of choice and political representatives. Imran Khan is also permitted weekly meetings with his wife — the latest cited meeting was on 4 August 2026, the very day his sons were alleging a blackout on CNN.

Prison records also cite WhatsApp and landline communication with family in Pakistan and abroad, including a call with his son on 21 March 2026. Regulated access is not a blackout.

Nor does the medical record support a narrative of abandonment as approximately 30 specialist examinations/medical boards, prison-doctor checks three times daily, retinal imaging and five intravitreal anti-VEGF injections, with specialist assessment continuing into July 2026.

The disclosure of his confidential medical reports is presently before the Supreme Court. A pending judicial process and medical confidentiality cannot simply be repackaged as government concealment.

The visa narrative similarly confuses NICOP with visa processing. If his sons hold valid NICOPs, the Government’s position is straightforward: they do not require Pakistani visas to enter Pakistan.

His stated detention conditions — an exclusive seven-cell compound, lawn, exercise facilities and separately prepared meals — also deserve to be reported alongside allegations of isolation and deprivation.  CNN has every right to question the Government — but credible journalism demands equal scrutiny of political allegations.

Around 198 interviews. 900+ visitors. Weekly spousal access. Family calls. Around 30 specialist assessments. Five eye injections and before calling it a “blackout”, CNN should first explain away the record.
