ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast further rain and thunderstorms across the upper, northern and central parts of the country, with several areas likely to experience cloudy weather and heavy showers.
According to the weather department, thunderstorms and rain are expected in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab. Several areas of Gilgit-Baltistan are likely to remain overcast, with rain expected in some locations.
Cloudy conditions are forecast in Skardu, Babusar, Astore, Hunza, Gupis, Bunji and Chilas, while some areas of Gilgit may also receive rain.
In Azad Kashmir, showers are expected in several areas, with heavy rain possible in Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot and Garhi Dupatta. The downpours could lead to water accumulation in low-lying areas and make roads slippery.
Northern and upper districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also likely to experience unsettled weather. Rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in Chitral, Dir, Malam Jabba and Saidu Sharif, while isolated thunderstorms may occur in Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan.
Islamabad has already received rain in several areas, with further thunderstorms possible. Rain and thunderstorms are also expected in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal and Attock.
Several districts of Punjab are also likely to receive showers, including Lahore, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur, with thunderstorms possible at isolated locations.
The rainfall is expected to bring some relief from the heat and lower temperatures, particularly in upper regions where cooler winds accompanying the showers may make conditions more pleasant.
The PMD has advised citizens to exercise caution during rainfall and avoid unnecessary travel. People travelling through mountainous areas have been urged to remain alert to changing weather and road conditions.
