PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is experiencing hot and humid weather. However, several areas may receive rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
Rain is expected in Peshawar, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan and Shangla. Showers are also likely in Abbottabad, Buner, Bajaur, Battagram, Mohmand, Khyber and Mansehra. The weather department has forecast rain with strong winds and thunderstorms in Orakzai and Kurram. Rain is also expected in Hangu, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Kohat and Bannu.
According to the forecast, North Waziristan, South Waziristan and Dera Ismail Khan may also receive rain accompanied by thunderstorms. Meanwhile, Takht Bhai recorded the highest rainfall in the province during the previous 24 hours, with 47 millimetres of rain. Kakol received 16mm, while Upper Dir recorded 3mm. One millimetre of rain each was recorded in Parachinar and Kalam.
The PDMA has advised residents in areas expecting thunderstorms and strong winds to remain cautious, particularly during periods of heavy rain and lightning.
