Pakistan’s Over-60 cricket team has departed to participate in the Over-60 Cricket World Cup 2026.
The tournament is scheduled to be held in Mississauga, Canada from August 9 to 23, 2026, with 14 teams from around the world taking part.
The participating nations include Pakistan, Australia, India, South Africa, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, West Indies, USA, Zimbabwe, Canada, Wales, Scotland, and IMC Emerging XI.
A send-off dinner was hosted for the Pakistan Over-60 squad at Karachi Gymkhana Club. Sindh Minister for Labour, Manpower & Social Welfare Saeed Ghani attended as the chief guest. Speaking at the event, he said that Pakistan’s participation in the Over-60 World Cup is an honor for the entire nation and prayed for the team’s success.
Fawad Ijaz Khan, Chairman of the Pakistan Veterans Cricket Association, expressed confidence that the team would do its best to bring the World Cup title back to Pakistan.
He recalled that in the previous tournament held in Brisbane, Australia, Pakistan defeated Australia in the semi-final and New Zealand in the final to win the Over-60 World Cup 2022. “With this distinguished legacy, Pakistan enters the 2026 competition,” he said.Five members of the title-winning squad are returning for 2026: Fawad Ijaz Khan, Syed Sagheer Abbas, Muhammad Younis, Muhammad Ashraf Pakhli, and Tahir Rasheed.Squad and FixturesCaptain: Fawad Ijaz Khan and Vice-Captain: Syed Mazhar Hussain.
