PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Health Department has constituted a three-member fact-finding committee to investigate allegations of harassment, administrative misconduct and irregularities at Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC).
According to an official notification, the inquiry was initiated on the directives of the provincial health secretary following a complaint filed by Charge Nurse Shakeela Naz. The committee will be headed by Special Secretary Health Khalid Parvez, while Additional Director General Health Dr Anisa Afridi and Dr Laila Zeb of Lady Reading Hospital will serve as its members.
The committee has been tasked with conducting a detailed and impartial investigation into all allegations levelled against the HMC administration. It will record statements from the complainant, relevant officials and other concerned parties as part of the inquiry.
According to the notification, the committee will also look into official records, correspondence, duty rosters, office documents, and other supporting documents to substantiate the allegations. The committee has full power to get access to all the necessary records and evidence. It will review the validity of each claim made against the organization and analyse the evidence in relation to the law.
The inquiry will also review whether the institutional complaint redressal mechanism was properly followed.
The notification states that if the allegations are found to be unsubstantiated, the committee will clearly state its findings in the report. However, if the claims are proven, it will recommend appropriate action against those responsible. Any additional relevant issues that emerge during the investigation will also be included in the probe.
The Health Department has directed the committee to submit its comprehensive report within 15 days.
