ISLAMABAD: The Islamic month of Rabi Al-Awwal is expected to begin on Friday, August 14, according to preliminary lunar calendar predictions, with 12 Rabi Al-Awwal, observed as Eid Milad-un-Nabi (the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), likely falling on Tuesday, August 25.
Rabi Al-Awwal holds special significance for Muslims around the world as it is traditionally associated with the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who is regarded by Muslims as a role model for humanity.
According to lunar calendar calculations, the first day of Rabi Al-Awwal is likely to fall on August 14. However, the final date will be confirmed after the official moon sighting process.
In the United Arab Emirates, public holiday arrangements may allow a holiday falling midweek to be shifted to the beginning or end of the week to create a longer weekend, under the country’s public holiday regulations.
Taking into account these plans, the government is expected to declare the Monday, 24th August as the day for celebrating Eid Milad-un-Nabi, thus allowing citizens to enjoy a three-day long weekend.
The upcoming holidays following this expected August holiday will be in the month of December for the National Day celebrations on the 2nd and 3rd December.
Residents in Dubai and other emirates have already begun making plans for possible short vacations and staycations during the anticipated August long weekend.
