BADAKHSHAN: The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has claimed that at least 21 Taliban fighters were killed and 37 others wounded in an attack on Taliban positions in Zebak district of Badakhshan province.
According to a post shared by _Afghanistan International English_ and circulated by security analyst Sarah Adams, the AFF carried out the operation targeting Taliban outposts in the mountainous district.
The AFF stated that among those killed were “several commanders,” though it did not release their names. The group said the clashes took place in Zebak, a remote district in northeastern Badakhshan known for its rugged terrain and strategic location bordering Tajikistan.
The post included an image of the Zebak area, showing a bridge over a river with mountain ranges in the background.

The Afghanistan Freedom Front is one of several anti-Taliban resistance groups that have claimed attacks against Taliban forces since the group took control of Afghanistan in 2021. Badakhshan has seen repeated clashes between resistance forces and the Taliban in the past two years.
The Taliban have not yet issued an official statement regarding the AFF’s claims. Independent verification of the casualties could not be immediately confirmed due to restricted access to the area.
Badakhshan remains one of the provinces where anti-Taliban groups have maintained an active presence, citing issues of governance, security, and human rights as reasons for their resistance.
