GILGIT: Gilgit-Baltistan government on Wednesday notified a 12-member cabinet after Governor Syed Mehdi Shah approved the summary sent by Chief Minister Amjad Hussain.
According to the notification issued here, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has been allotted eight ministerial positions, while the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) has secured four cabinet posts. Likewise, the PPP ministers include Ali Akhtar, Iqbal Hassan, Nasir Ali, Syed Jalal, Muhammad Naseem, Tauqeer Mehdi, Neknam Karim and Zulfiqar Murad.
The IPP nominees inducted into the cabinet are Muhammad Dilpazeer, Aman Ali, Asad Shafiq and Anwar Ali. The cabinet has been constituted to give representation to all parts of Gilgit-Baltistan. Moreover, five ministers belonging to Baltistan Division, five to Gilgit Division, while two represent the Diamer-Astore Division.
The notification was issued after Governor Syed Mehdi Shah formally approved the cabinet summary forwarded by the Chief Minister Amjad Hussain, completing the process for the formation of the cabinet. It is worth mentioning here that the PPP has won the majority of the seats of the GB assembly.
