Afghanistan cricket team’s ODI captain Hashmatullah Shahidi has resigned from his captaincy, after which the Afghanistan Cricket Board will soon announce the name of the new ODI captain.
Hashmatullah Shahidi took over the leadership of Afghanistan’s ODI team in January 2022 and led the team in a total of 55 One Day International matches during his captaincy.
Under his leadership, Afghanistan achieved many important successes in international cricket, including memorable victories against strong teams like England, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. His captaincy is considered an important stage in the development of Afghanistan cricket.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has not yet issued an official statement regarding the reason for the resignation; however, the board has confirmed that the appointment of a new ODI captain will be announced soon.
