Pakistani freelancers generated a record $1.76 billion in export earnings during the fiscal year 2025-26, marking a major milestone for the country’s digital economy, according to official government data.
The figures show that freelancers’ export income increased by 78 per cent compared with the previous fiscal year, underscoring the rapid growth of Pakistan’s freelance and digital services sector.
In June 2026 alone, Pakistani freelancers earned $164 million, reflecting a 69pc year-on-year increase in monthly export earnings.
Official data shows a steady rise in freelancers foreign exchange earnings over the past four fiscal years. Export earnings stood at $985 million in FY2024-25, up from $505 million in FY2023-24 and $364 million in FY2022-23.
The latest figures highlight the expanding contribution of Pakistan’s freelance workforce to the national economy, with thousands of skilled professionals generating substantial foreign exchange by providing digital services to clients worldwide while working from within the country.
The sustained growth reflects increasing global demand for Pakistani freelancers and the continued expansion of the country’s digital economy.
