LOWER DIR: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Zulfiqar Hameed visited Lower Dir on Thursday to pay tribute to police personnel martyred in a recent terrorist attack, meet their families, and inquire after injured officers.

The visiting IGP was accorded a guard of honor by a police contingent. The IGP paid homage to the martyred police personnel by offering a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument and praying for them.

During his visit, Hameed met with the families of martyred police personnel and offered his sympathies, assuring that their needs will be looked into by the police department. The IGP addressed the martyred police personnel as “heroes” and told their families that they will not leave them alone in difficult times.

“Our martyrs are our pride. Their children are our children and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police will keep extending every possible help to their families,” he said.

The IGP also distributed cheques of financial assistance among the families of the martyrs and injured personnel.

Furthermore, a meeting was arranged by Hameed among local elders to discuss the existing law and order situation. In addition to this, he highlighted the importance of the cooperation of citizens in defeating terrorism and establishing permanent peace in the province.

Moreover, during the visit to Lower Dir district, the IGP visited Timergara Hospital where injured police officers were admitted due to a terrorist attack on the police. The IGP highly appreciated the bravery, devotion, and professionalism of the police officers while instructing the hospital officials to take care of the wounded officers by providing them with the best medical services.

When addressing the media persons, Hameed stated that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police is fighting with the terrorists bravely and professionally and is still determined not to let the terrorists achieve their goals.

It should be noted that the police force is being provided with the latest technology, modern weapons, and better professional training in order to combat terrorism more efficiently.

Finally, the IGP paid homage to the martyred police officers and injured staff of the Lower Dir Police.
