ISLAMABAD: The federal government has increased the Climate Support Levy on petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD), while reducing the Petroleum Levy by an equal amount, leaving retail fuel prices unchanged.

According to a notification issued by the Petroleum Division, the Climate Support Levy on both petrol and diesel has been raised by Rs2.50 per litre, increasing the levy from Rs2.50 to Rs5 per litre.

To offset the increase, the government has simultaneously reduced the Petroleum Levy on both fuels by Rs2.50 per litre, ensuring that the existing retail prices of petrol and diesel remain unchanged.

The notification further stated that similar adjustments have been made for High Octane Blending Component (HOBC) fuel.

The Petroleum Levy on HOBC has been reduced by Rs2.50 per litre, while the Climate Support Levy has been increased by Rs2.50 per litre.

The revised levy structure came into effect on July 1, with consumers continuing to pay the same prices for petrol, diesel and HOBC despite the changes in the composition of government levies.
