Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is under a blazing sun today, Monday June 29, with most districts reporting clear skies and scorching temperatures that are pushing both thermometers and people to their limits.

The provincial weather office says daytime highs will reach 44°C, but with humidity and direct sun, it will feel closer to 51°C during peak afternoon hours.

‎Peshawar is leading the heat, starting the morning at 36°C and climbing to 43°C by early afternoon. Abbottabad, Mardan, Swabi and surrounding areas are seeing similar conditions with mostly clear skies, light northerly winds, and humidity dropping below 30% in the afternoon. Meteorologists have flagged a UV index of 11, rated extreme, meaning sunburn can occur in minutes without protection.

‎The heat is expected to hold through the evening, with temperatures only easing to around 34°C after sunset. Relief is not in sight for Tuesday either. Forecasters predict another 43°C day, with the UV index staying at 11 and no chance of rain across KP.

‎Health officials are advising people to limit outdoor activity between 12 PM and 4 PM, drink plenty of water, and check on elderly neighbors and children. The dry, intense heat also raises the risk of dehydration and heat exhaustion, especially for laborers and commuters.

‎For now, KP residents will have to wait it out under clear but unforgiving skies, with cooler weather unlikely before the week ends.
