Iran has announced a temporary waiver of visa fees for Pakistani citizens planning to attend the funeral and mourning ceremonies of late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
The concession will remain in effect for 10 days as Iran prepares to receive thousands of mourners and official delegations from around the world.
Although the visa fee has been waived, Pakistani travellers are still required to obtain a valid visa before entering Iran.
Authorities have clarified that the measure does not grant visa-free entry, and all applicants must complete the standard approval process.
Applications must be submitted through Iran’s official E-Visa portal, where travellers are required to select the appropriate visa category and specify that their visit is for funeral or mourning ceremonies.
Officials have advised applicants to ensure all information provided is accurate, as incomplete or incorrect details may delay the approval process.
Under the existing E-Visa requirements, applicants are generally expected to hold a passport valid for at least six months and may be asked to provide supporting identification documents.
Iranian authorities have also urged travellers not to book non-refundable airline tickets until their visas have been approved, warning that processing times or application issues could lead to unexpected changes.
