ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday said that Pakistan and Iran share an inseparable bond of friendship, stating that the success of Iran is Pakistan’s success and its failure would also be considered Pakistan’s failure.

Speaking at a joint press conference alongside Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, PM Shehbaz said that Pakistan is committed to improving its diplomatic relations with Iran and is looking forward to continue cooperation between the two countries.

While speaking to the audience, the premier quoted a verse from Persian literature, indicating the cultural and diplomatic relationship between the two nations. His move received warm appreciation from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian along with others.

Welcoming the Iranian delegation, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan was delighted to have the Iranian President here and wished him success in all his endeavors. He appreciated the fact that signing of Memorandums of Understanding was a very important step in bilateral relations.

Conveying his sympathies on the loss of lives in Iran, the premier said that Pakistan was with the Iranian nation in times of sorrow.

He commended efforts to bring peace in the region and acknowledged regional diplomacy in bringing about recent understandings.

Shehbaz Sharif highlighted that Pakistan will always be part of creating dialogue and finding peaceful solutions for conflicts, and mentioned that sustainable peace is a mutual goal in the region.

Further, he stated that Pakistan was committed to enhancing cooperation with Iran on all grounds, and expressed his hope that Iran would become an important economy in the region.

It was his view that double standards cannot exist in international relations, and he appreciated the trust of Iran in the diplomacy of Pakistan.

In his concluding remarks, he referred to Pakistan and Iran as brotherly nations with eternal friendship.”
