ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif departed on Sunday for a two-day official visit to Kuala Lumpur at the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi are accompanying the premier on the visit.

During the visit, both leaders will hold bilateral meetings and delegation-level talks to discuss a wide range of issues of mutual interest. The two sides are expected to sign several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in key sectors.

Discussions will focus on strengthening ties in trade, information technology and telecommunications, the halal industry, investment, education, energy, infrastructure, and the digital economy.

The visit also aims to explore new opportunities for people-to-people exchanges between Pakistan and Malaysia.

Officials said the visit would help deepen bilateral relations and promote shared interests at both regional and international levels.
