ISLAMABAD: The government has announced hundreds of new vacancies in a major recruitment drive aimed at strengthening law enforcement capacity in the federal capital.
According to official sources, a total of 1,934 new posts have been sanctioned in the Islamabad Police. The new hiring will primarily support the Special Protection Unit (SPU) and the Law and Order Division with a focus on enhancing security for sensitive installations and improving overall public safety operations.
Out of the newly approved positions, 997 posts have been allocated for VIP security and protection of key sensitive sites, while 937 posts will be dedicated to maintaining law and order duties across the federal capital.
Officials confirmed that the recruitment plan includes 1,580 constables and 180 head constables. In addition, 24 inspector-level positions have been approved to supervise field operations, along with 100 assistant sub-inspectors and 50 sub-inspectors to be inducted directly into the force.
Authorities said the cost of the new hiring will be met through the existing budget of the Islamabad Police, with no additional financial burden expected on the federal exchequer.
The move is being seen as part of broader efforts to expand policing capacity in Islamabad amid evolving security requirements and increasing operational demands.
