ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Switzerland has been postponed after technical-level discussions began under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) framework.
According to diplomatic sources, after a major success and breakthrough at the highest political level between the two world powers, the two sides have now started practical implementation of this comprehensive framework, due to which, instead of traditional or formal visits, all attention has now been focused on moving forward on the agreed issues in an orderly manner. Technical-level talks on various sensitive issues included in this comprehensive memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington will now be held separately.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit has been postponed as the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been electronically signed and implementation is underway. According to sources, separate technical-level discussions will be held on various matters included in the comprehensive MoU framework.
After this major diplomatic breakthrough, Pakistan has achieved such an extraordinary and historic breakthrough in the field of international diplomacy that it seemed impossible to imagine.
After the digital signatures by the parties, this comprehensive agreement came into effect immediately and is now undergoing the process of regular implementation. Pakistan’s key role in this entire process was to provide a common framework for both world powers, end the ongoing regional crisis and create a systematic and regular path for the implementation of the agreement, and Pakistan has successfully achieved this goal.
After this historic diplomatic breakthrough, the process is now entering the next phase under which separate tracks (stages) will be created for technical-level negotiations on various important issues. These technical negotiations include very important topics such as lifting of economic sanctions, maritime security, measures related to nuclear issues, verification mechanisms of the agreement, sequence of measures and regional guarantees.
According to experts, this situation is clear evidence that Islamabad did not just host a traditional diplomatic event, but has created such a comprehensive and solid framework that now requires detailed work at the expert level.
