Shaheen Afridi’s Test career has started to slow down, and the possibility of being ignored in the West Indies and England tours has increased the chances to permanently dropped him from test cricket.
According to details, the selection committee announced 22 cricketers for the Red Ball Camp yesterday, but Shaheen Shah Afridi’s name is not included. According to sources, he has been informed that since he does not play first-class cricket, he will not be able to go to the West Indies and England.
Interestingly, Shaheen had participated in the Test series with Bangladesh; this justification was not applied at that time. He has dismissed 60 players in his last 16 Test matches.
Shaheen had dismissed 18 players in 2 matches of the Pakistan team’s 2021 Test series in the West Indies. He took 8 wickets in the first Test and 10 wickets in the second Test. Sources said that the selectors are also looking to give a chance to Mohammad Ali and Obaid Shah, impressed by their performance in the PSL.
Mohammad Abbas, Aamir Jamal, and Khurram Shahzad will also be in the running for selection. Shaheen has been told that he will not be part of the squad for the West Indies and England tours. The pacer has been used on Asian pitches, but now he intends to ignore them in favorable conditions. He has taken 126 wickets in his 34-Test career.
The camp of 22 red-ball cricketers will continue from June 8 to July 10, the team will start a 2-Test series in the West Indies on July 25. The 3-Test series in England will start on August 19.
