The advisory issued by Higher education commission (HEC) has directed students and parents to fully verify the approved mode of education of the program before taking admission in any university abroad, be it on-campus, online or blended learning.
Higher education commission stressed that students should ensure that the mode of education of the concerned program is approved by the regulator or accreditor of the concerned country and if there is a condition of physical attendance or residence in the program, then it should also be completed.
According to the advisory, each application for equivalence of a foreign degree is reviewed on an individual basis, during this process, a detailed examination of the legal status of the university, approval of the program, teaching methodology, duration and other relevant conditions is carried out.
HEC has advised students to obtain complete information about the accreditation, and teaching methodology of the concerned university and program before taking admission abroad so that they do not face any difficulty in terms of equivalence or recognition of the degree in the future.
According to the commission, applications for equivalency of foreign degrees can be submitted through an online portal and each application is decided according to its individual merit and prescribed criteria.
