ISLAMABAD: Heavy traffic on a section of the M5 motorway was suspended after high-tension transmission lines fell onto the roadway due to strong winds, disrupting Rohri and Rahim Yar Khan.
According to sources with the Motorway Police, traffic is being stopped between Rohri and Rahim Yar Khan on account of the accident. The stretch that was impacted by the accident is at Point 510 of the motorway where there were fallen power lines blocking the way of the travellers.
According to the source, traffic coming in from Rohri and Pano Aqil heading north was stopped while other routes were opened for commuters to travel in their desired direction safely.
Travelers headed for Sindh Province from Punjab are advised to take the National Highway N-5 from Iqbalabad instead of the motorway. On the other hand, travellers headed for Punjab can take Rahim Yar Khan and move through the network of national highways to rejoin the M5 motorway.
Personnel have been dispatched to deal with the traffic congestion in this situation and try to bring traffic back to normal as soon as possible.
