QUETTA: Internal clash over control between rival factions of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) intensified, resulting in the death of Hayat Khan, the elder brother of BLA cadre SM Bahot.

The confrontation, reportedly orchestrated by the Bashir Zeb faction of the BLA, arose from ongoing disputes over control and influence within the organization.

The incident follows the earlier kidnapping of the Vice Chancellor of Gwadar University by elements aligned with the Bahot faction. Sources indicate the abduction was related to a personal and tribal dispute connected to the VC’s family and was not sanctioned by Bashir Zeb.

In response, his faction carried out the targeted killing of Hayat Khan as a warning against unsanctioned actions.

Security analysts warn that the factional violence is likely to continue, with further targeted attacks and clashes expected in the coming days as rival groups within the BLA consolidate control.

Authorities in the region have urged residents to remain cautious and report any suspicious activity.
