PESHAWAR (Kamran Ali Shah): The Capital City Police has taken prompt action against an organised gang involved in kidnapping minors, forced begging, and other crimes, and arrested the main accused in Peshawar on Wednesday.
According to the police, they have been receiving complaints of missing and kidnapping of minors during the last few days from different areas, on which, on the instructions of the SP Cantt Division, the Hayatabad Police Station, under the supervision of the SDPO Hayatabad, took action on a tip-off.
It said the SHO Hayatabad Police Station, along with other police personnel, arrested the prime accused Raees Badshah, son of Muslim Badshah, resident of District Karamhal, Kohat Road. Weapons were also recovered from the possession of the accused during the action.
The police safely recovered three minors during the action, who were identified as Sarbland, son of Jannat Gul, resident of Afghanistan, Arman son of Muhammad Waseem, resident of Bara, and Bilal son of Sharif, resident of Karamhal, Rawalpindi.
According to the initial investigation, the arrested accused is the head of an organised kidnapping gang, which used to kidnap minors from different districts and force them to beg in other cities, including Peshawar.
According to the police, the children were also incited to commit theft and other illegal activities.
During the investigation, the accused revealed that when the children cried or resisted, they were drugged and rendered unconscious. The arrested accused has also identified other associates and networks involved in the gang, for whose arrest special teams have been formed.
According to police officials, the rescued minors have been shifted to the Child Protection Unit for protection while the search for their families is underway.
The Capital State Police has appealed to the citizens to immediately report the disappearance of children or suspicious activities to the nearest police station or police helpline so that timely action can be taken against the elements involved in such crimes.
