Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar Chaudhry announced a significant reduction in tariffs at Gwadar Port to increase global transit traffic.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that the berthing fee of container ships has been reduced by 25 percent, and port charges on international transhipment containers have been reduced by 40 percent. The Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs said that port charges on transit container cargo have also been reduced by 31 percent, and a free storage facility of one month instead of 5 days has been introduced for general cargo. Major relief has been given to ships bringing transit and transshipment cargo.
Junaid Anwar Chaudhry said that record incentives are being given to Gwadar compared to other national ports, and the policy of making Gwadar a regional logistics hub is being implemented. The new tariff is expected to significantly reduce the operational costs of shipping lines. Cargo handling at Gwadar Port will increase and economic activities will accelerate.
Gwadar Port Chairman Noorul Haq Baloch said that the reduction in tariffs will increase employment opportunities in Balochistan, and the new tariff structure will promote maritime trade.
