BANNU: A major suicide attack by the Khawarij on the Fateh Khel police station in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been foiled after timely action.
According to initial details, the Khawarij tried to ram a vehicle loaded with explosives into the police station, however, the alert police personnel deployed there opened fire on the vehicle before it reached the target, as a result of which the vehicle exploded with a loud explosion. The explosion was so intense that its sound was heard far and wide.
There are reports of severe damage to nearby civilian populations and houses due to the explosion, while reports of roofs collapsing of several houses have also been received.
Immediately after the incident, police and security forces surrounded the area, where heavy exchange of fire is still ongoing between the forces and the foreigners.
On the other hand, reports circulating on social media and other sources regarding the suicide attack on Bannu Cantt have been denied and it has been clarified that the attack was carried out on the Fateh Khel police station.
Security forces have launched a search operation in the area, more details are awaited.
