PESHAWAR (Kamran Ali Shah) Peshawar and Charsadda police claimed to have traced an alleged suspect involved in the assassination of Sheikh Idrees

According to police sources, a significant breakthrough has been achieved in the investigation into the murder of Maulana Muhammad Idrees. Joint teams from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and the Peshawar and Charsadda police have successfully identified an alleged terrorist involved in the attack. The entire government machinery has been mobilised to track the suspect, with authorities utilising all available resources to ensure progress.

Investigating officers stated that the identification process was facilitated by CCTV footage recovered from the crime scene and its surrounding areas. While the identity of a key suspect has now been confirmed, he remains at large; consequently, special units are conducting targeted raids across various districts to effect an arrest. To aid in this high-profile case, the investigation team has recorded the initial statement of Maulana Idrees’ driver, which has proven vital in connecting the events of the attack.

The investigation is currently proceeding on scientific grounds, including the use of geofencing to analyse mobile tower data from the vicinity of the crime scene. Furthermore, authorities are cross-referencing the profiles of suspects from previous high-profile cases in the region to dismantle any underlying terrorist networks. Although a specialised team raided a key location last night, the suspect managed to flee shortly before their arrival. Despite this, police officials remain optimistic that the perpetrators will soon be brought to justice.
