Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved one-month extension in subsidies for motorcyclists, public transport and goods transport, while maintaining the continuity of relief measures for the weaker sections of society.
According to details surfaced on Thursday, the prime minister has directed the relevant authorities to prevent any increase in passenger fares and freight charges, and to ensure effective monitoring of public relief measures.
He said the government had provided a national relief package worth billions of rupees for the common man amid difficult economic conditions and would continue to extend relief wherever possible.
PM Shehbaz has added that providing relief to the common man remained the government’s foremost priority and expressed hope for an early improvement in the regional situation.
In view of the prevailing circumstances, PM Shehbaz has reaffirmed the decision to sustain relief for economically vulnerable segments. He approved the continuation of last month’s subsidy for motorcyclists and public and goods transport for another month, alongside instructions to curb any rise in fares.
