PESHAWAR: Chairman of Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has criticised the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government, referring to the assembly proceedings at the cricket Stadium as a “drama”.

Talking to media persons, Sherpao pointed out that the leaders of the province had failed to resolve the major problems faced by the masses but had resorted to politics in lieu thereof. He further pointed out that the PTI government was well into its 13th year but had done “nothing” regarding development and good governance in the region.

The chairman stated that people in the province were suffering from various problems whereas the government seemed to busy itself with its political agendas. Moreover, he highlighted that corruption had spread widely among the masses and thus required immediate steps for its curbing.

Speaking about the regional security situation, Sherpao welcomed the efforts of Pakistan, the United States, and Iran in making diplomacy work towards the stability of the region. However, the chairman emphasised that Afghanistan also needs to be a part of these negotiations due to the extensive border area.

He also mentioned that the first priority of Pakistan was to avoid any militancy across the border from Afghanistan, which had been helped by the security measures taken, although dialogue remained equally important.

According to Sherpao, the problems related to public services and infrastructural developments were not being given enough attention in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as political matters took precedence.

Furthermore, the leader pointed out that the government at the federal level was not addressing the problems of the province properly, whereas their policies had caused serious problems for people.

It can be concluded that the chief of QWP called on authorities to concentrate on solving the daily issues of citizens.
