ISLAMABAD: The federal government of Pakistan on Wednesday declared a public holiday across the country on Friday, May 1, on the occasion of International Labour Day.
The federal government has also issued a notification for the holiday on May 1.
According to the issued notification, all of the government and private offices, educational institutions and business centres will remain closed on Friday, May 1. This is so that the services of the workers and the working class can be paid tribute.
Due to the federal holiday on Friday, the public will have three days off on this occasion. Since May 1 falls on a Friday, there will be the usual holidays on Saturday and Sunday. This gives Pakistanis a three-day holiday to relax.
Labour Day is celebrated every year in Pakistan to express solidarity with the working class and promote their rights and welfare.
