ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has thanked the United States President Donald Trump for his recent remarks praising Pakistan and its leadership.

The prime minister responded by reposting Trump’s message on X (formerly twitter), expressing heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the people of Pakistan, field marshal Syed Asim Munir, and himself for the US president’s kind words.

PM Shehbaz Sharif said Trump’s message reflected goodwill towards Pakistan and highlighted the positive direction of relations between the two countries.

Earlier, Trump had shared a message on the social media platform Truth Social in which he praised Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.

The US president described the two Pakistani leaders as two wonderful personalities and thanked them.
Trump also described the day as a great and wonderful day for the world, a remark widely interpreted as signaling positive global developments.

Previously, Trump had also welcomed Iran’s decision to reopen the Strait of Hormuz to commercial shipping. He confirmed that Iran had formally announced the restoration of access to the vital maritime route, which is considered crucial for global trade.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that after the ceasefire in Lebanon, the Strait of Hormuz would remain open to all commercial vessels. However, ships would be required to follow specific routes designated by Iranian authorities.

In his message, President Trump thanked Pakistan, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, calling them “two wonderful individuals.”

Trump described today as a “great and wonderful day for the entire world.”

Earlier, US President Donald Trump welcomed Iran’s decision to fully open the Strait of Hormuz and thanked the Tehran government.

President Trump confirmed that Iran has officially announced the restoration of this most important sea passage for commercial traffic.
