White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said that Pakistan’s role in facilitating ceasefire efforts are credible, stating that the next phase of negotiations is likely to take place in Islamabad.
Addressing a press briefing, Karoline Leavitt said that ongoing discussions between the United States and Iran remain constructive and productive. She noted that both sides appreciate Pakistan’s serious diplomatic efforts regarding the ceasefire, adding that Pakistan is currently acting as the sole mediator in the dialogue process.
The spokesperson also dismissed reports suggesting that Washington had requested an extension of the ceasefire, calling such claims inaccurate.
In addition, Leavitt confirmed that a blockade in the Strait of Hormuz has been fully enforced. According to her, the blockade applies to vessels departing from Iranian ports, regardless of their destination.
