The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has carried out a major operation against the illegal business of hawala hundi in Peshawar and recovered millions of rupees and arrested two accused.

The FIA ​​team raided the Khyber Bazar and Qabil Gate areas of Peshawar where a network involved in illegal Hawala hundi was targeted. During this operation, two accused, Anis son of Muhammad Zulfiqar and Gul Hayat son of Bismillah Jan, were arrested red-handed.

According to the authorities, a huge amount of Rs. 12.8 million (12,800,000) in cash has been recovered from the possession of the accused. The accused failed to produce any legal license or permit related to currency transactions and hawala hundi on the spot. During the raid, other important evidence, including mobile phones and receipts were also seized, which confirm the involvement of the accused in this illegal business.

An FIA spokesperson said that a case has been registered against the arrested accused, and legal action has been initiated. Furthermore, it has been made clear that the crackdown on Hawala Hundi networks that are harming the country’s economy will continue, and no concessions will be made in this regard.
