ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed optimism over ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution to the war in the Middle East.
In a tweet posted earlier today, the Prime Minister stated that the diplomatic process is “progressing steadily, strongly, and powerfully,” with the potential to yield significant results in the near future.

PM Sharif made an open appeal in his tweet to the US President Donald Trump, requesting him to extend the deadline of talks in favor of peace by two weeks. As per PM Sharif, “To allow diplomacy to take its full course, I earnestly request President Trump to extend the deadline for two weeks.”
Moreover, PM Sharif requested Iranian government to help out by allowing the passage through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks. This would make sure that a good environment is formed for peace talks.
Another important thing that was suggested by our honorable Prime Minister is that all the warring sides should agree to observe a ceasefire for two weeks to facilitate any further progress in diplomatic efforts. “We also urge all warring parties to observe a ceasefire everywhere for two weeks to allow diplomacy to achieve conclusive termination of the war, in the interest of long-term peace and stability in the region,” stated PM Sharif.
Thus, it can be seen from PM Sharif’s tweet that Pakistan remains committed to playing its part in ensuring peace in the Middle East region, mainly through dialogue and cooperation.
