ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has expressed deep concern and has unequivocally condemned the missile and drone attacks launched by Iran on energy facilities in the eastern region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

A statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Pakistan strongly condemns the Iranian attack on Saudi Arabia. In the statement, the ministry mourned the loss of life resulting from these attacks and strongly condemned the damage inflicted on vital infrastructure.

They conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong solidarity with the Government and people of Saudi Arabia during this challenging time.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the attacks as a serious violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing that they represent a dangerous escalation that threatens regional peace and stability. Pakistan reiterated its unwavering support for the Kingdom’s security.

The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan fully supports the security and safety of Saudi Arabia and condemns any actions that threaten the safety of this brotherly nation.

Experts note that these attacks occurred while Pakistan was attempting to mediate for peace in the region, which has significantly undermined those efforts.

Under the existing strategic defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, it is clearly stated that an attack on Saudi Arabia will be regarded as an attack on Pakistan. Consequently, Pakistan stands by Saudi Arabia with all its diplomatic and defense capabilities.

The blocking of the Strait of Hormuz has had a great effect on global maritime traffic as the United States attempts to remove Iran’s grip over this vital passage have failed.

It should be noted that defense experts believe that Iran does not need its navy to protect the Strait since it uses various layers of defense. These include mobile missile batteries positioned along its coast, fast boats, sea mines, and kamikazes that can target any ship that enters the waters of the Strait of Hormuz.

Although the US has declared victory over Iran by claiming that it has disabled its navy forces, especially its submarines, the threat posed by Iran’s Midget submarines persists. Therefore, it has caused concern regarding the safety of using this passage.

Following the strikes by Israel and the US, Iran has made many attacks against different maritime ships to prove its dominance in the Strait of Hormuz. According to data from the International Maritime Organization (IMO), between February 28 and April 1, more than 20 ships have been attacked in the Gulf of Oman, Strait of Hormuz, and Persian Gulf, killing ten people.
