WASHINGTON: United States President Donald Trump, speaking to the media on Monday during Easter celebrations at the White House, declared that the Tuesday deadline set against Iran is final. The President further asserted that Iran will remain without power plants until a diplomatic deal is successfully reached.
Addressing the press, President Trump expressed a preference for seizing control of Iran’s oil reserves, stating that if the choice were his, he would take the oil because it is available and there is nothing the Iranian government could do to prevent it. He noted that while he believes taking the oil would allow him to generate significant revenue and provide better care for the Iranian people, he is mindful of the American public’s desire for a military withdrawal from the region.
The President drew a comparison to the current US strategy regarding Venezuela, following the capture of former leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife in January. He described the situation in Venezuela as a success for the United States, claiming that 100 million barrels of oil are currently being refined in Houston as a result. “Venezuela has worked out so incredibly,” Trump remarked, highlighting the ongoing benefits of the captured resources.
