LAHORE: In the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), the Multan Sultans defeated the Quetta Gladiators by 6 wickets in a match held at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore. The Sultans successfully chased down the target of 167 runs, losing only 4 wickets in the 18th over.
Multan’s batting was strong throughout the innings. Steve Smith contributed significantly with a fine innings of 53 runs, while captain Shan Masood remained not out with 46 runs. Other notable performances included Sahibzada Farhan with 32 runs, Josh Flippy with 18, and Arafat Minhas with 6 runs.
For the Quetta Gladiators, Hassan Nawaz took 2 wickets, while Saud Shakeel and Alzari Joseph claimed 1 wicket each.
The Multan Sultans won the toss and chose to invite the Quetta Gladiators to bat first. Quetta scored 166 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Captain Saud Shakeel played a pivotal role, scoring 56 runs off 41 balls, while Bevan Jacobs contributed with an unbeaten 49 runs. Ahmed Daniyal retired hurt after scoring 22 runs due to injury.
In terms of bowling performance for the Sultans, Muhammad Nawaz excelled with 3 wickets, and Arafat Minhas played a crucial role as well, taking 2 wickets and helping lead the team to victory.
