SWAT: In response to an incident in Kalam, Swat, where tourists were reportedly asked by local police to provide marriage certificates, the District Police Officer (DPO) of Swat has taken immediate action by suspending three police officers, including the officer in charge of the Kiadam Check Post.

This incident raised concerns about police conduct towards tourists, prompting the DPO to order an inquiry. Shaukat Ali, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) for Upper Swat, has been appointed as the inquiry officer to investigate the matter. He has been instructed to submit a detailed report within two days.

The DPO emphasized that any police personnel found guilty of inappropriate behavior towards tourists will face strict disciplinary action. He stated, “No officer who engages in inappropriate conduct with tourists will be excused,” highlighting the department’s commitment to maintaining professionalism and respect for visitors.

This inquiry is particularly relevant as tourism in Swat has been on the rise, and officials are increasingly concerned about fostering a positive relationship between law enforcement and the public. The tourism sector in Swat is a significant source of income for the region, and incidents like this could damage its reputation.

Once the inquiry report is submitted, authorities will take stringent action against the involved officers based on the findings.
