PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and Switzerland have signed a memorandum of understanding(MoU) to promote research-based higher education.

Chief Minister for Education Meena Khan Afridi meets Swiss Ambassador to Islamabad George Steiner. They discussed matters related to higher education and research. On this occasion, Minister for Higher Education Meena Khan Afridi said that 65 percent of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s population consists of youth.

He said that a large number of Pakistani youth are traveling to Europe to secure higher education and apply their skill for the development of their host countries. He said that both Switzerland and Pakistan could benefit from each other in terms of exchange programs and scholarships.

They also discussed Joint degree programs, PhD research, and modern curricula, besides internship opportunities for students and teachers. He also suggested joint research including climate change, energy, agriculture, and health.

The Swiss ambassador appreciated the educational efforts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and said that Switzerland is ready to increase cooperation with educational institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
