ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) on Tuesday dismissed social media reports regarding a massive hike in the prices of petroleum products, terming them “completely baseless” and “fabricated.”

In an official statement, a spokesperson for the regulator clarified that no summary has been forwarded to the Prime Minister’s Office proposing an increase of Rs 73.40 in the price of petrol and Rs 84.95 in the price of diesel.

The spokesperson said that the claims circulating online have no connection with reality and urged the general public to disregard unverified information. The regulator reiterated that such news is false and aimed at creating unnecessary panic, advising citizens to rely only on official announcements regarding fuel pricing.
