BANNU (Salman Ali Khan): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has killed a detained TTP commander, Usama alias Daniyal, also known as Baghi, during an exchange of fire between two groups in the Bannu district on Sunday.

The CTD’s investigation team was attacked by terrorists, leading to a firefight. In the crossfire, the detained terrorist commander Usama, who was an active member and mastermind of the new terrorist organisation “Ittehadul Mujahideen Pakistan,” was killed by his own comrades. They had attempted to free him during the attack.

The investigation team was en route to complete their operation to identify the scene of a previous attack on Assistant Commissioner of North Waziristan, Shah Wali Khan. In the CTD team’s retaliatory fire, one terrorist, identified as Kamyab Khan alias Ikhlas Yar, son of Nabuwat Khan and a resident of Kabul Khel Shewah, North Waziristan, was also killed. A Kalashnikov with two magazines, two hand grenades, a card of the banned organisation TTP, and a mobile phone were recovered from his possession.

During the exchange of fire, the CTD team’s armoured vehicle (APC) sustained bullet damage; however, the soldiers inside remained safe. The terrorist commander Usama had been arrested a few days prior in Peepal Bazaar, Bannu. During interrogation, he confessed to his involvement in several serious incidents, including the assassination of Assistant Commissioner Shah Wali Khan, former SHO Abid Wazir, and three prominent leaders of the Marwat National Movement.
