WASHINGTON: Pakistan has got international recognition for its diplomatic efforts, said Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar in an exclusive interview.
Talking on the occasion of the Board of Peace meeting, Minister Tarar said that US President Donald Trump has praised Prime Minister Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their leadership. The president appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting global peace and improving the country’s position on the international level.
The recognition of Pakistan, according to Minister Tarar, is an indication of the country’s rise as a major and effective player on the international level. This is a great achievement for the foreign policy of the country, he said.
The minister also expressed his satisfaction with the Prime Minister’s international activities which brought attention to the Palestinian issue at the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
He restated Pakistan’s official position which recognizes Palestinian self-determination rights as essential for achieving peace through the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in the region.
Minister Tarar reported that Prime Minister Sharif and President Trump maintained friendly dialogue at the Board of Peace meeting while their body language showed them to trust each other and share a bond of friendship.
“Pakistan has moved from a period of diplomatic isolation to becoming an influential voice on global issues,” he said. “When leadership is honest and prioritizes national interest, the results are always positive.”
