Govt announces public holiday tomorrow

MUZAFARABAD: The government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has declared a public holiday on Monday, February 16, 2026, and a formal notification has also been issued in this regard.

According to the official announcement, the holiday has been announced in view of the Overseas Kashmir Conference to be held in the capital, Muzaffarabad.
A large number of overseas Pakistanis and Kashmiris are expected to participate in the conference, due to which this decision was taken to make administrative and security arrangements effective.
According to the announcement, all government, semi-government institutions and private commercial centres in Muzaffarabad will remain closed on February 16.
The government says that this step was necessary for the arrival of distinguished guests and the successful holding of the conference.
According to officials, the main objective of organising the Overseas Kashmir Conference is to promote the development of the state, as well as to inform overseas Kashmiris and Pakistani investors about investment opportunities and to provide them with information about the facilities provided in Azad Kashmir.
The Azad Kashmir government says that this conference will further strengthen relations with overseas Kashmiris and encourage them to play an effective role in the economic development, prosperity and sustainable planning of the region.
