DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has suspended United States cricketer and batter Aaron Jones after issuing multiple ICC Anti-Corruption Code violations against him. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has charged Aaron Jones with five serious code violations which require him to present his defense within 14 days.

The 31-year-old player was part of the USA team’s training camp in Sri Lanka, where preparations were underway for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Jones appeared to be a strong candidate for the World Cup but his selection became impossible after the team suspended him.

The ICC issued an official statement which confirmed that most allegations against him stem from the 2023–24 Bim10 tournament which took place in Barbados under Cricket West Indies. The international matches contain two charges that require investigation.

The ICC defines the charges against the defendant which include match result manipulation attempts and corrupt approach failure, reporting and investigation non-cooperation and anti-corruption unit information withholding and evidence concealment or tampering.

The governing body added that the action is part of a wider investigation and further charges against other players or individuals may follow.

The governing body revealed that their investigation will continue because they intend to investigate additional players and staff members.

Aaron Jones began his international career in 2019 and he has played 52 One Day Internationals and 48 T20 Internationals for the United States. Jones played a vital role in the USA team’s performance during the 2024 T20 World Cup as he scored 94 runs against Canada and 36 runs in the historic victory against Pakistan.

Jones has participated in multiple T20 leagues, including the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Major League Cricket (MLC), and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He has not played any international matches after April 2025.

The US cricket community was shocked by the suspension, and they now await the ICC’s forthcoming actions on the matter.
