Political and social affairs analyst Dr. Farhan Virk made serious allegations regarding PTI’s (PTI) social media chief Jibran Ilyas, claiming that the real control of the party is neither with Aleema Khan nor with any other leader, but all the power is in the hands of Jibran Ilyas, who is in the US.
According to Dr. Farhan Virk, Jibran Ilyas is the person who gives instructions to the party leadership, including Aleema Khan, on what statement to make on which occasion. He completely rejected the impression that Aleema Khan makes statements independently, and said that PTI’s social media strategy is being completely controlled from abroad.
Dr. Farhan Wark further claimed that Jibran Ilyas worked for the United States Secret Service in 2010 and took control of PTI’s official social media platforms in 2011. According to him, since 2011, he has been behind the scenes determining the party’s social media direction.
He alleged that Jibran Ilyas also had full access to the “Rabat App” introduced by PTI in 2019. According to Dr. Farhan Wark, modern mobile apps can analyze data points and digital behaviours of users, through which an individual’s interests, mental tendencies, and weaknesses can be assessed.
He said that through this app, data on the behaviours of party workers and supporters was collected, and a regular study was conducted, the aim of which was to promote a specific narrative and mentally influence the youth. Dr. Farhan Virk alleged that this data was not limited to identity cards or passports but was based on the psychology, likes, dislikes, and reactions of individuals.
He further claimed that on the basis of this data, PTI Youth was forced to think in a specific direction, which resulted in the mental makeup of the youth being affected, and they were mobilized under a provocative narrative. After these allegations of Dr. Farhan Virk came to light, a new debate has erupted in the political circle.
