BANNU: Four members of the peace committee were martyred when armed terrorists targeted them in the Gulbuddin Landidak area under the limits of the Hoveed police station.
As a result of this brutal attack, four peace committee members were killed on the spot. The deceased have been identified as Naseeb, Hamid, Ziaullah, and Fauji. According to police and local sources, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire on them when they were passing through the area.
As soon as the information about the incident was received, a heavy contingent of police reached the spot, and the bodies of the deceased were shifted to a nearby hospital for post-mortem and necessary legal procedure. Security forces have cordoned off the area and started a search operation to trace the accused.
It should be noted that the members of the peace committee in the said area have taken a strong stand against terrorism and are carrying weapons for the establishment of peace.
The situation in the area is said to be extremely tense after this latest attack, and there is intense fear and panic among the local population. The incident has been strongly condemned by federal and provincial authorities and has been described as a cowardly act of sabotage to peace efforts.
It is important to mention that terrorist activities intensified in the southern parts of the districts, as militants also targeted a police APC in the Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
