KATLANG: Two people succumbed to their injuries while including a woman, and three others sustained critical injuries as the clash between two groups escalated in the Katlang area of district Mardan on Monday.
According to the police, two people who were critically injured after the incident that took place in the Katlang bazaar later succumbed to their injuries at the Type-D hospital in Katlang.
Following the news of the two fatalities, the conflict between the groups escalated further, resulting in a woman and three other individuals sustaining serious injuries.
According to local sources, the two sides clashed in broad daylight in Katlang Bazaar today, during which one side opened fire, killing one person from the opposing side. Later, another person was also killed in the retaliatory fire by the other side’s border guard.
A woman present in the market was also injured during the incident and was immediately shifted to the hospital by rescue personnel. The deceased have been identified as Nawab Gul and Sabir.
After the incident, both sides also attacked each other’s houses, resulting in the injury of two more people, identified as Shahzad Gul and retired police inspector Kabir Khan.
Police have reached the spot and brought the situation under control, while tight security has also been imposed in the hospital.
