RIYADH: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Mian Shehbaz Sharif has received a royal welcome, escorted by fighter jets as he, along with other leaders, arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh.

Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Shahbaz Sharif, has arrived in Saudi Arabia, where he received a royal welcome. Demonstrating their strong diplomatic relations, Saudi Arabia greeted Prime Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif’s plane with an official protocol as soon as it entered Saudi airspace.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, who accompanied the Prime Minister, stated that this is the first time a Pakistani Prime Minister has been welcomed in such a grand manner, highlighting the goodwill and brotherly relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is on an important visit to the kingdom at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Saudi government for the royal welcome extended by King Mohammed bin Salman. Accompanied by senior ministers and notable government figures, the composition of the delegation underscores the significance of this visit.

During his stay, the Prime Minister is expected to have a detailed meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, where they will comprehensively review bilateral relations. Key areas of discussion will include trade, investment, energy, defence cooperation, and regional security. This visit comes at a time when both countries are eager to strengthen their strategic partnership.

Several important agreements and memoranda of understanding are anticipated to be signed, which will advance bilateral cooperation. A senior Pakistani official emphasised that “Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations are founded on shared beliefs, cultural ties, and mutual trust.” This visit offers a chance to transform these historic ties into tangible economic and strategic benefits.

The two leaders will also discuss regional and global issues that affect the Muslim world and South Asia. The visit underscores Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing relations with Saudi Arabia and promoting alignment with Saudi Vision 2030, alongside Pakistan’s development goals.
